Privacy Policy

Your data, protected and yours

We track vehicles, not people. Here is exactly how we handle your information. Last updated 2026-09-01.

What we collect

Vehicle GPS location, device info and the account details you provide.

How we use it

Only to deliver tracking, alerts and safety features — never sold to third parties.

Your controls

Manage sharing, export or delete your data anytime from settings.

Security

Encrypted in transit and at rest, with role-based access controls.

1. Who we are

Bharat Tracker is operated by Bharat Mechanics Private Limited, Industrial Area Phase 1, Chandigarh, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use our website, apps and GPS devices, and why. Questions go to hello@bharattracker.com.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work.

  • Vehicle data: GPS location, speed, heading, ignition state and device diagnostics reported by the tracker fitted to a vehicle.
  • Account data: the name, mobile number, email and role (owner, school admin, driver, conductor, parent) you or your organisation provide.
  • School route data: for schools, the routes, stops, trips and the names, class, stop and guardian contact of children riding those routes — entered by the school.
  • Usage data: app version, device model, crash reports and which features are used, to keep the apps reliable.
  • Messages: driver–school messages sent through the app, so both sides can see the thread.

3. How we use it

We use data to provide the features you signed up for and for nothing else:

  • Show live vehicle locations, trip history and replay to authorised users.
  • Send alerts — geofence, overspeed, boarding/drop, SOS — to the people entitled to receive them.
  • Build attendance records and reports for schools and fleet owners.
  • Operate remote anti-theft cut-off, with every command logged.
  • Support you, secure accounts and comply with legal obligations such as state transport rules.

4. Children's information

Schools use Bharat Tracker to run transport for children. A child's record contains only what the route needs: name, class, assigned stop and guardian contact. It is created and controlled by the school, visible only to that school's staff and the child's own guardians, and deleted when the school removes the student. We never use children's data for advertising and never sell it.

5. Who can see what

Access is role-based. Each user sees only the data their role requires:

  • Fleet owners see their own vehicles.
  • School admins see their school's vehicles, routes, staff and students.
  • Drivers and conductors see the trips assigned to them.
  • Parents see their own child's bus and alerts — never other children or other routes.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, SMS and push-notification delivery, map tiles) under contracts that restrict them to our instructions, and with authorities where the law or a court requires it. Location data may be shared with the police at your request to recover a stolen vehicle.

7. Retention

Live location is kept for trip history and replay for the life of your subscription plus 90 days, then deleted or anonymised. Account data is kept while the account is active and deleted within 30 days of closure, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons. Schools can delete a student at any time; the child's record is removed immediately.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is controlled by role and logged. Remote cut-off commands require confirmation and are attributed to the user who sent them. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will tell you and the relevant authorities without undue delay.

9. Your rights and controls

You can, at any time:

  • See and correct your account details in the app settings.
  • Export your vehicle and trip data from the dashboard.
  • Delete your account, or ask us to at hello@bharattracker.com; we complete deletion within 30 days.
  • Turn off non-essential notifications per alert type.

10. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses only strictly necessary cookies and privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics to understand which pages are read. We do not run advertising trackers.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the product changes; the date at the top shows the latest revision, and material changes are announced in the app. Contact us at hello@bharattracker.com or +91 93106 94349, or write to Bharat Mechanics Private Limited, Industrial Area Phase 1, Chandigarh.
